Wow great pics! Where do you find such pretty locales? Do we live in the same universe?
I LOVE the owls!!!
In spite of its relative isolation and small size (about 12,000 when school's out), Moscow is a beautiful little university town. There's plenty of outdoor activity (hiking, biking, camping, fishing, boating, hunting, photography, plein air painting, etc.), the University of Idaho has a beautiful and student-friendly campus and offers excellent programs, the population is diverse and the granola population provides a cultural and artsy diversity and interest not found any place else in Idaho, it's only 40 minutes to Lewiston (a seaport at the confluence of two major rivers), 1.5 hours from Spokane WA or Coeur d'Alene ID (with a wonderful big lake), 5.5 hours from Seattle, a day's drive to Portland and the Oregon Coast, Glacier National Park is less than a day's drive, Schweitzer (ski resort) is only 3 hours north(and the skiing is great). . . there's really a lot to recommend that little college town on the Palouse!
Ha, that's quite the advertisement. Yes, little ol' Moscow, ID is quite a lovely place if you're up for the small town life (though I must say Moscow is probably the most interesting, active, and diverse small town I've been to).
Yes, "the small town life" has its drawbacks. I lOVE the excitement, stimulation, energy, etc. of a city, but Moscow is admittedly unique among small towns, and its relative ("relative" being, well . . . relative . . . )proximity to larger communities doesn't completely rule out the option of enjoying the perks of a larger metropolitan area, albiet a required day trip to Spokane or a 3-day weekend to Seattle or a Southwest flight from Spokane to wherever. Could be a lot worse . . . could be in the middle of one of the Dakotas or Nebraska :-)
