The Road From Tooele

Three for three. Each time, I've seen something I've wanted to photograph. The signs. A barn. The sky. A grasshopper. A bird of prey. This last time, there was a mini rodeo or rodeo practice going on just off the road, and I almost stopped to ask if I could take pictures, but I had to be somewhere and couldn't take the time.

WOW, I really wish I had the eye that you do for photography! Your work is so soothing!

Thanks, Quinn. Your work is stimulating and sometimes dreamlike, which mine is generally not. I guess we all have our "flavor" and energy, eh? I'd actually like to try taking some photos that have the sort of stimulating energy many of yours have. Sometimes I get tired of the "safeness" of my own stuff thus far. :-)

:) Well thank you. But as you find yourself wanting to be more energetic, I want mine to be more realistic. Funny how we always want what we don't have. Maybe sometime we should go do a shoot together and compare!

I just want you to take your talent more seriously and to the next level. You're way too self critical. STOP IT!!

Self criticism can be positive. Spurs one in new directions and to higher goals. I don't feel put down when I say these things, just evaluative. I just try to recognize my weaknesses, shortcomings, or inexperience so I can remember and develop them into more (and to prevent the praise of a few from getting exaggerated in my head). So no, I will not stop it. *smirk*

Although...I'm pretty sure nothing in my comments on this post constitutes self-criticism anyway. Just a statement of style, nothing qualitative.

As for taking it seriously, it is a hobby I may want to make something more of. As you know, I'm exploring the possibility. :-P
